sherlock router

What the extension reads, where it sends it, and what it keeps. Last updated October 10, 2026.

What it is

A side panel beside your scheduling software.

sherlock router is a Chrome extension for inspection companies. It suggests which inspector should take an order being entered in the company's scheduling software, and shows why.

It is used by signed-in members of a sherlock company. It does nothing on pages that are not your scheduling software.

What it reads

Your own scheduling data, through your own login.

On your scheduling software's pages the extension reads, with the session you are already logged into: the inspector list and their home bases, working hours and time off, the day's scheduled jobs, service areas, and the address, date, time and duration typed into the order form.

It reads only. It never submits, saves, assigns or deletes anything in your scheduling software.

To know which account the open tab belongs to, it reads the address bar of the active tab. It does not read or store browsing history.

Where it sends data

Three places, each for one purpose.

Google Maps Platform: when you press “Find inspector”, the coordinates of the job and of a handful of inspectors' start points are sent to Google's Routes API to get drive times, and a map of the suggested route is shown. No names or addresses as text are sent; only coordinates.

sherlock (api.gosherlock.ai): your sign-in is checked, and your company's shared preferences — rotation tolerance, working-hours grace, each inspector's maximum distance and schedulable switch — are read and saved there so the whole office sees the same rules.

Your scheduling software: read requests only, as above.

Nothing is sent anywhere else. There is no analytics or advertising code.

What it keeps

Little, and not for long.

In your browser: drive times already paid for, for 30 days, so repeat lookups cost nothing; and the order form reading for the tab you have open, which is cleared when the tab navigates or closes.

On sherlock's servers: your company's preferences, kept while your company uses the product. If your company's phone line is connected, a live transcript of inbound calls is kept for 7 days and then deleted.

The extension does not store your scheduling software password or any payment information.

Your choices

Sign out, remove, or ask.

Signing out of the panel stops all reads. Removing the extension deletes everything it kept in your browser.
